A slightly unknown classic in a splendid corner of the Spluga mountains

A classical walk for families, very satisfying for the splendid scenery open on the peaks of the Upper San Giacomo Valley, first and foremost Pizzo Ferrè and Tambò.
Along the Spluga trunk road, right after the dam of Lake Montespluga, on the right you find some buildings and a small parking lot, where you can leave your car (altitude m. 1906). Take the dirt road that gradually goes up through the pastures, where often you chance upon some marmots: the children will have fun, besides searching for “live” animals, also recognizing the similarity of stones with the shapes of dragons, serpents and other beings, already created by the hands of some artist…
After about 150 meters of climb up, you reach the top of the long ridge of Andossi, a broad morainic hump heading up from Madesimo, where our trail rejoins that coming from the locality of Andossi: after the fork on the right (road signs), you continue and get into a broad valley with a magnificent route, never dangerous, in the middle of pastures, ruins and rocky outcrops. A last more exposed stretch of the trail, still very large, has been equipped with chains and metal safety cables, actually useful only in case of ice, snow or a lot of rain.
Finally, you catch sight of the hollow where the wonderful Lake d’Emet is: on its west bank, in a magnificently dominant position on the lake and the underlying valley, you find Bertacchi Hut (m. 2196, about 1.45 hours).
